Mountain songbird sing a song for me
You know the one I love with that old time melody
You sing it for the rivers, the animals, and trees
Mountain songbird now sing a song for me
I heard it first when I was but a child
By the fence in the backyard at the edge of the wild
It called to me like angels from the clouds
And I'm still that little nature boy
When I hear it now
Mountain songbird sing a song for me
You know the one I love with that old time melody
You sing it for the rivers, the animals, and trees
Mountain songbird now sing a song for me
There's a building where your pine tree used to stand
And there are car horns, slamming doors, and the ugly sounds of man
If I want to hear your peaceful tune again
I’ll have to leave behind this busy world for where the water meets the wind
Mountain songbird sing a song for me
You know the one I love with that old time melody
You sing it for the rivers, the animals, and trees
Mountain songbird now sing a song for me
Repeat Chorus

Song Story
The first co-written song by Mark and Gary for the new album. It was influenced by the Baird Owls, Red-Tailed Hawks, and the many songbirds that fill the hollow behind Mark's house with the songs of the wild.
